Pixel Jocks is Live
A couple of weeks ago, Dennis Good and I launched Pixel jocks. It is a new service for businesses looking for an affordable web site with no hidden costs. Because of how we set things up, we can have a site up and running in just a couple of days. Hosting is included for the yearly investment of $500. We also have three add-ons for Events, News and Photo Galleries each priced at $50 a year.
The entire site uses a custom content management system (CMS) that was specifically created for Pixel Jocks. The CMS includes everything needed to keep your site updated but none of those complicated features that you never use or need.
If you’re a new business needing a web site or looking for a microsite for a new product you’re launching, take a look at Pixel Jocks and see what we can do for you.

Next Year is the Year for Microsoft…or the Year After That
I’ve been a big fan of Leo Laporte and his tech podcasts at TWiT.tv for some time. One of my favorites is Windows Weekly. This isn’t because I’m a Window’s fan though. I like listening to Paul Thurott because it isn’t afraid to say what he feels (for and against Windows/Microsoft). Every episode talks about new products and services launching using some version of the Windows OS. These announcements always seem to include a launch date sometime in the future. Sometimes it is “Summer 2012″. Other times, it is “Early 2013″.
I always find that humorous. It never seems to be a definitive date with Microsoft. It’s difficult to get excited about an upcoming launch (of a phone, tablet or Windows 8, etc…) when it is a year or more away.
Over the years, watching your marketing stumbles has been great (Can you bring Bill and Jerry back?), but it is time to stop. If you want to create some buzz, it helps if you actually have something (anything) ready before you announce it. Making references to Windows 9 when Windows 8 isn’t even out is a bit crazy.

Third Night Watching Tron
There is something about the new Tron movie that I can’t get enough of. I never saw the original so I have no clue what is really going on, but here I am watching it again. The techno/synthesized music throughout, the Ducati’s, Quorra and the visual effects in the Grid are amazing. Yeah, the story line and dialogue could be better, but this movie wasn’t made to win academy awards. It’s just a fun movie to watch and here I am watching it again.

Leave a commentTronitech and David Rausch Studios
I had two sites go live this week. One was David Rausch Studios and the other was Tronitech.
I worked with Scott Weber of Weber/Design on the David Rausch Studios web site. Scott did all the design work and I created a custom CMS for managing the home page slider images as well as the Project pages.
For the Tronitech web site, Dennis Good of D.Good Design Co. and I worked together. Using their existing logo, Dennis created the header images.
On my end, I took their existing site and cleaned up the layout and information architechture and helped them with a marketing strategy for the monthly Newlsetter. Along with that, I designed and coded their email templates and they are using Campaign Jockey to send their Newsletter and manage their subscribers.
Both projects were interesting and challenging and I’m thankful for the opportunity.
