Come On Freddie

According to recent reports, Freddie Couples has told Tiger he’s on the team for the President’s Cup this November. Freddie is one of my all-time favorite golfers and Tiger isn’t. Not because I don’t like Tiger, but I wonder what Freddie is thinking. Tiger has barely played this year and when he has, it hasn’t been impressive.

I understand and believe in the value of a captain’s pick, but Freddie is using bad judgement here. A captain’s pick is for a guy that is playing well now but hasn’t accrued enough points to make the team. Freddie is basing his decision on what Tiger has done on the past, not what he has done recently.

There once was a belief in business that you would never get fired for going with IBM. In case you haven’t noticed Freddie, IBM and Tiger aren’t what they used to be.
